A traditional salsa for the holidays-especially good with turkey.
It makes welcome gifts too!
1 lb. bag fresh CRANBERRIES
1 Ig. red APPLE (Delicious, if available)
1 Ig. ORANGE, rind included
2 cups SUGAR 2 JALAPEĆOS, seeded and minced
Seed apple and orange and cut into chunks. Wash cranberries.
Place cranberries, apple and orange in food processor and chop together. Stir in sugar and jalapeĆ±o. Mix very well. Prepare at least 48 hours before serving. This salsa improves with age and freezes well.
Makes 3 cups.
This unusual salsa is popular in southwest Texas. It is usually served with grilled chicken.
4 Tbsp. VEGETABLE OIL
4 Tbsp. LIME JUICE
2 Tbsp. HONEY
3 Ig. fresh TOMATOES, diced
1 JALAPEĆO or SERRANO CHILE, minced
1 Tbsp. fresh CILANTRO, chopped or 2 tsp. dried CILANTRO
Blend all ingredients together.
Makes 1 1/4 cups.
